What happens to my previous marriage?

If I am married newly does that mean my previous marriage (to the same person) seizes to exist? What can a rope do? Bond/unbond?

My previous marriage did not require rituals. The marriage of two persons and their thoughts, hopes, discussions, arguments, the waiting(s), fights, and the silence that followed. In this case I am celebrating my 8th anniversary. Nobody came for the reception. Cos there was no reception. But we knew. That we were married.
